Hey everyone,
Just getting my blog set up. I find it easier to post to a blog so that everyone can see or read about what I am up to. If you're here it means you have taken a genuine interest in what I have to do here in Nepal, so thank you. You're interest is well-appreciated.
Internet here tends to be a little sporadic to say the least, so don't expect too many updates to begin with. I plan on traveling to a shop in Bhaktapur next week that offers wireless internet with faster speeds and more reliability, PLUS a lower fee. Sounds like the way to go, so wish me luck with that.
Kevin and I just got settled in to our apartment complex last week, but the house was completely bare except for a couple of towels and beds with linen. We're slowly building up our necessities, however we are still without gas for the gas stove and no pillows =[ I know... Hard times... Who can sleep without a pillow... But we hope to get that solved quickly as well.
Kevin is now teaching in the school here. It is a school that provides free education to the children in Banepa, most of them belonging to parents that work in or around the hospital. Kevin teaches English and Science to grades 2 through 5 and seems to get happier and happier with his job each day. The children love us and are very excited when they see us outside of school. They always holler from a distance "Hello Kevin-Sir! Hello Krystal-Miss!!!" They are such sweet kids and really do love to learn. Today Kevin took the Grade 5 class into Banepa to buy a couple more fish for the class fish tank. They also helped him pick out a plant for the fish, and a little fish net, and ended up picking out two fish. Now the class has six fish and is very happy.
I have talked with the head man at the hospital and am looking into working with administration for simple tasks like editing and writing memos. I am also in the process of creating a web page for the school. I wish to find sponsors in the States who are willing to aid in the children's education, since it is provided to them free of charge. More information can be provided if you ask, and I will be posting much more on that later.
I guess this is long enough for a first post =] Thank you for your time,
Krystal
